day 8: rachel austin

In my eyes, artwork is one of the most wonderful gifts you can give, particularly to those nearest and dearest to you.

I tend to fall head over heels for less traditional mediums, which is how I first discovered artist Rachel Austin. Her fabulously original mixed media designs, many of which are painted on maps, are among my favorites. And her color palettes make me so very happy. Whether an archival print or a framed original, Rachel’s artwork is a must-must-must have. I love her work most in mismatched sized pairings, perched alongside my favorite props.

To get your collection started, today’s giveaway is a Rachel Austin original! A 5″x5″ mixed media map painting on one of Rachel’s signature handmade wooden frames (retail $65).
