sightglass

Sightglass Coffee Bar & Roastery is a city favorite. Located in SOMA and owned by the Morrison brothers, it’s one of the most beautiful spaces to spend your morning, afternoon…or the entire day.

I had my very first-ever cup of coffee here this summer (I know, I’m like an alien to most people). Sadly, it didn’t turn me into a convert; but the dozens of other patrons were in heaven, savoring each and every sip with pure delight. People really do take their coffee seriously, and I love it. Every person in my life has a love affair with coffee, and places like Sightglass help me understand why.

And the best news of all? Sightglass now sells their coffee online. It’s true, take a peek. I bet it would make a pretty fabulous stocking stuffer.

birch

Who doesn’t love Birch? It’s become one of my favorite shoppes in SF.

Birch is so much more than a flower studio. From custom arrangements and gifts, to covetable domestic and international publications, Birch is another Hayes Valley must.

city girl

It’s hard to believe I’ve called San Francisco home for 8 months now. It’s a wonderful city, and has treated me to so many great experiences.

One of my favorite strolls is in my very own backyard, where the Golden Gate sits perched perfectly. I never grow tired of its grandeur, and love watching the fog dance around the bridge. I have to resist taking a picture most days I walk by, since I have more than I know what to do with. Perhaps I should start selling postcards? I kid. But some days I just can’t resist. Between sunrise and sundown, sunshine-y days and those with endlessly dense fog, this bridged beauty always strikes a pose… “say cheese”

heath factory visit

Tucked away in Sausalito, just across the bay, is Heath Ceramic‘s historic Factory Store.

It’s just as charming as the Ferry Building location, but offers a larger product selection, gorgeous displays, discounted ceramics, and perhaps my favorite, an overstock room. You can score some incredible deals on their wares and tiles, and if you time your visit just right, take part in a factory tour.

While most associate Heath with their tableware, perhaps most covetable is their tile.  Some of my favorite installations are herehere and here.

If you’re ever in the bay area, it’s a treat to add the Factory Store to your itinerary.  Definitely worth the trip, by sea or by bridge.

pancake & franks

Stacy Pancake does it again! How adorable are her giclée prints for tots, customized with the little one’s details? Such a darling gift for new parents.

Miette: A Video from San Francisco’s Most Charming Pastry Shop.

“I eat cake every single morning…and I don’t want to ever wake up any other way”

Oh Meg, you just became my new favorite person.

i tumbl

Since moving to the city earlier this year, I found myself chronicling my day to day far more regularly than ever before. San Francisco has so many sights to see, and really, everything is just so new to me.

Instead of keeping the snapshots locked away in my silly little phone, I thought I’d create a visual photo journal of sorts, since I’ve never been much of a pen-to-paper type of journalist.

So come visit me on tumblr, and if you have a tumblr account, please do share! Other tumblrs have become my new favorite thing to follow (Pinterest aside – this is an entirely different love affair).
