Open Position: Buyer
Buyer
The buyer is a full time position for someone who is analytical, organized, efficient, task-oriented and process driven. You are responsible for managing the procurement of custom products and home furnishings for all clients of Mindy Gayer Design Co. LLC. You will process and submit each PO, and follow up with trades to secure lead times on all orders, while clearly communicating all statuses with the design team.
Role Responsibilities
- Review and submit purchase orders
- Negotiate best pricing and shipping costs with vendors
- Monitor all open orders
- Ensure all existing orders are shipped and delivered on time
- Update all vendor account information
- Appropriately file all receipts, order confirmations, and accounting records internally
- Work with accounting team to provide accurate records of all purchase orders, payments, and open invoices
- Reconcile all receipts
- Update all internal records and project trackers with order details and statuses
- Communicate any problems, workflow issues/delays with design team
- Set up and maintain all trade and wholesale accounts, and notate vendor discounts/details on all internal records
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher)
- 5+ years experience in a buying role (experience in residential design a plus)
- Highly administrative
- Analytical
- Task-oriented and process driven
- High level of attention to detail
- Proven ability to meet deadlines
- Exceptional communication skills – daily vendor, trade, internal communication, with occasional direct communication with clients
- Proactive and adaptable
- Knowledge of the interior design/residential construction process is a plus
- Understanding of ordering processes, shipping/freight, and requirements for FF&E
- Superior Excel, Google Workspace skills
- Experience with IVY or any Design/Accounting Software
