And just like that, it’s time for the fourth and final reveal of our newest #mgdxrancho project. This family home, nestled in the idyllic community of Rancho Santa Fe, truly captures the essence of the California ranch lifestyle. If you missed the other reveals, head to the projects section of our blog to see more from this charming home, from the living spaces to the bedrooms. Step into the backyard oasis, cozy guest house, and the creative haven of the art studio in today’s reveal. Keep scrolling to see all the details!
Backyard
The backyard spaces of this home were designed with our client’s desire to host lots of family gatherings, parties, weekends by the pool, and a place where the littles could run free. We love the laid-back, inviting, and whimsical moments that make you feel at home the moment you step foot outside.
The art studio has a covered patio space right outside its front door, which doubles as both dining and an outdoor crafting area for the kids. The original stone fireplace and cluster of woven pendants anchor the space beautifully and are so welcoming.
The pool area is made up of several casual seating areas. Pairs of sun loungers along with additional lounge seating surround the backyard.
Just off the guest house, tucked between a pair of original trees that provide the perfect afternoon shade, is a kids picnic table and tree swing. Our clients love to entertain and any given weekend you will find oodles of little kids running around, posting up at the kids table, crafting, chasing after puppies and bunnies, and just about everything else you’d want to do in a yard this magical.
Guest House
Tucked away on the property sits the charming guest house. Featuring a full kitchen, family room, guest bedroom and ensuite bath, this space was designed to feel like a special home away from home for family and friends to stay.
In the kitchen, we opted for hand painted patterned backsplash tile for a touch of whimsy. Soapstone countertops contrast with the greige painted cabinetry, while oak and wood accents warm up the space. The family room has original ranch house v-groove ceilings and beams that we repurposed. A custom entertainment built-in serves as the for focal point for the seating area with a slipcovered linen sectional, patterned pillows and woven art, along with other collected treasures.
Guest Bedroom
Guests cozy up in the hotel-like bedroom, located just off the family room. Paneled walls create a tailored feel in this space. A custom bed with a patterned linen print is paired with oak nightstands and a textured jute rug. We love all the natural tones in the room.
Guest Bathroom
The ensuite guest bath features hand-painted flooring tile, full height moroccan tile walls, and mixed metal finishes. Guest towels are tucked away in the oak vanity, and natural light fills the space throughout the day.
Art Studio
Located off the backyard is a perfectly quaint art studio for our client’s little girls. Citrus-inspired wallpaper lines the walls for a fun and playful backdrop. This art haven and creative space is just for the littles who get to call this space theirs.
We love how this space feels perfectly feminine and colorful, and can transition with the girls as they grow older. Custom cabinetry was designed to house oodles of art supplies, stickers, glitter, gift wrap and more. Custom linen pin boards sit above the oversized bench seat — perfect for displaying all of their little masterpieces!
