Interior Design Intern
This is a part-time internship position where you will be responsible for assisting the design team with interior design projects from concept to installation. We’re looking for someone who is friendly, self-motivated, design-savvy, incredibly organized, and who is excited to contribute to our design firm. CAD and Illustrator skills are a major plus! Our ideal candidate will be someone who seamlessly embodies a similar aesthetic to ours as an established design studio.
Role Responsibilities
- Behind-the-scenes support of design and project management teams
- Oversee organization of design library, keeping fabrics, finishes, samples, resources, and paint swatches filed
- Join weekly production meetings with team
- Create and maintain project bins and binders for client projects with required documents and samples, ensuring that they remain current and updated
- Manage design-related project errands
- Obtain samples and visit design showrooms
- Memo’ing and returning products for project installations
- Research and sourcing of unique trade furniture, fabrics, lighting, tile, surfaces, finishes, materials, color palettes, hardware, wallpaper, accessories, window coverings, and artwork that align with the MGD aesthetic
- Assist with project installations as needed, including prep work and day-of styling assistance
Qualifications
- Must be a current design student and be able to receive school credit for an internship
- Well-rounded skills and understanding of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and Google Docs/Sheets
- Strong design eye and highly curated aesthetic that matches our MGD look and design style
- Positive and friendly demeanor, team player, highly flexible and happy to help
- Must have your own car & cell phone, and be available to work from our Design Studio in Costa Mesa, California 10-15 hours per week
