2022 is quickly wrapping up, and we’re taking the time to slow down and reflect on everything this past year brought. It was an exciting year for the MGD team, with lots of new projects in the works, three home reveals launched on our site, and a handful of beautiful finished projects that we just can’t wait to share with you all. We’re ending the year on a grateful note and reflecting on 2022 with an end of year recap. Keep scrolling to see everything our interior design studio was up to this year!
January
To kick off the year, during the first week in January, little Ollie came into the world!
February
In February, our team hosted the cutest Valentine’s Day party at the studio. It’s probably no surprise that we’re big fans of any and all celebrations around here.
March
We moved into our first home, #mgdxthecottage, in March. By move-in day, we were truly so grateful to be moved in and settled, after living in temporary housing with a newborn. Like many of our clients, it was a long remodel process, but so much fun. We also got lots of quality time with Ollie!
April
In April, we installed our #mgdxmanhattanbeach project, which has been in the works for about 2 years! It’s a beautiful, coastal home with elevated details throughout.
May
May was full of presentations and sourcing for projects. We had a client material & tile presentation for our #mgdxramsgate project at the studio. We also worked on sourcing materials for our new #mgdxemeraldbay project.
June
We Installed our gorgeous #mgdxrancho project in June after two years in the making. It was so much fun adding finishing touches to each special moment we designed throughout the home with our wonderful clients.
We were treated to a factory tour with our friends at ARTO Brick, and had the pleasure of meeting their makers, touring their facility, and learning even more about their beautiful collections of tile.
We also kicked off a new project in June, and flew to Colorado for our first site visit at #mgdxtelluride. It’s the dreamiest project with the kindest clients and most talented team.
July
In July, we had our final install at #mgdxthecottage and photoshoot, capturing each little moment throughout our sweet home. It was so special photographing a space that’s full of so many of my favorite elements.
We also escaped to Santa Ynez with for my birthday weekend, where we enjoyed our first family getaway in one of our favorite places. If you’re thinking of planning a trip here, take a peek at our updated Santa Ynez travel guide for all of my recs throughout the Santa Ynez Area.
August
We squeezed two installs into the month of August! We installed at #mgdxbristol, which is another one of our projects we’ve been working on since 2020. We also had an exterior install at #mgdxnelliegail, and can’t wait to share the transformed exterior spaces of this project early next year. It’s truly so magical, and the ultimate family retreat.
September
In September, we were busy with client meetings at job sites and at our studio. We started pulling final accessories and finishing touches for our #mgdxranchosantafe photoshoot. We also snuck in a quick girls’ trip to Ojai for a little R&R. See all of my recs in our Ojai travel guide!
October
October was extra memorable, with two back-to-back shoots at each of our Rancho Santa Fe projects, as well as a pumpkin-adorned studio! We captured every moment at our #mgdxranchosantafe and our #mgdxrancho projects. It was the best kind of busy month, filled with the most gorgeous spaces that we can’t wait to share with you all next year. Stay tuned.
In honor of spooky season, we hosted our first pumpkin carving contest and party at the studio, and you all helped us vote for your favorites in our Instagram Stories. I truly love seeing our team’s creativity. We decorated for the season with our team’s masterpieces.
November
We spent much of November working on furniture presentations for a few special projects, as well as sourcing materials for our #mgdxmenlopark project. We found so many pretties at the Concept Studio showroom. I was a summer intern here during my college days, so it was fun to see the whole team again, and peep their stunning new showroom.
We also had lots of site meetings, checking in on all of our projects before the holidays.
It wouldn’t quite be a complete November without ringing in our gratitude at our MGD Friendsgiving, where we enjoyed a fab homemade Thanksgiving meal made by the MGD team. And let me tell you, it was one of the best Thanksgiving meals we’ve had!
December
This December, most of our days have been full sourcing for new projects and working on furniture presentations. We decked the halls with a team gingerbread house decorating contest and party at the studio! You all voted for your favorites on Instagram, and showed so much love for every little house in our festive gingerbread neighborhood.
As the year draws to a close, our team is taking some much needed time away from the studio to rest and getaway. We spent our first Christmas at home this year; it’s been so much fun with Ollie, along with hosting friends and family, and being in Christmas jammies all winter break. Evan is the chef in our family so he’s been quite busy in the kitchen keeping us all very well fed, and I’ve been thinking ahead to 2023 and all that’s in store! First up, Ollie’s first birthday in January.
