Today on the blog, we’re excited to give you a closer look into one of our favorite spaces in The Cottage – The main bathroom design! Our bedroom and bathroom were two of the last spaces we designed in the house. This bathroom design is an ode to our favorite materials: carrara marble and polished nickel. Below, we’re sharing more details on our design choices, including our selections from Kallista Plumbing to build out our dream bathroom.
Bathroom Vanity
Due to a handful of unique design challenges that were presented to us during the course of the remodel, we opted to have a longer vanity with a single sink. This layout allowed for two windows to flank either side of the bathroom sink and mirror that let in so much beautiful natural light. Because we only had one sink, we wanted to make it extra special and make a true design statement in the space. The vanity itself has so much detail in the reeded cabinet fronts, so we prioritized clean lines for the sink and faucet. A rectangular under-mount sink sits in the carrara marble slab countertop, and a gooseneck style faucet adds a polished feel.
Shower
In the shower, we used a classic carrara marble field tile for the shower walls and continued the feminine marble mosaic floors into the shower pan. When it came to plumbing fixtures, we opted for polished nickel for a few reasons. First, it’s such a timeless material complements so many design styles. You’ll see it used in almost all of our projects for that reason! Second, we love the subtle contrast it provides against the marble tiles. Clean lines were the name of the game again in here to tie back to the vanity and juxtapose some of the more traditional elements in the space.
We hope you enjoyed this closer look at some of the selections we made for our main bathroom design at #MGDxTheCottage!
