One of the most fun parts of the design process for our team is choosing paint colors! We love using paint colors to transform the feel of a space, and that applies to exteriors, too! The exterior paint color of a project sets the tone for the rest of the home. Whether you love the look of bright white exterior paint or prefer a moodier statement, we typically recommend that our clients opt for a neutral hue. Today on the blog, we’re sharing six of our favorite exterior paint colors of the moment – Three light and three darker hues. Keep reading for our picks!
Light Exterior Paint Colors
For an all-white exterior, look for a shade that is bright and rich with warm undertones. We love White Dove by Benjamin Moore for this reason! If you prefer a warmer neutral, look for something slightly off-white like Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore. We love this hue because it works in so many spaces, including exteriors, so well! Lastly, if you love a light grey exterior, look for a color with warm undertones that leans neutral, not blue. Repose Gray by Sherwin Williams is a great option, because its taupe and green undertones keep it from feeling cold, and can perfectly complement beautiful landscaping!
Dark Exterior Paint Colors
We love a dark exterior paint color when we really want to make a statement with one of our projects. Dark grey and black are our go-to, and we typically look for dark paint colors with neutral undertones, since darker colors can read differently depending on the lighting. This is especially important to consider with exterior colors – You’ll want to pick up samples and paint them on the exterior of your home so you can see how the colors feel in morning, afternoon, and evening light. For a dark grey with neutral undertones, try Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore or Charcoal Smudge by Dunn Edwards. If you want to go all-in with the perfect black, we love Blacktop by Benjamin Moore for its true black hue.
