We all know that the kitchen is the heart of the home. For that reason, it’s often one of the first spaces we start designing in all of our client projects. For us, it’s important that the kitchen reflects the overall aesthetic of the home, and does so in a way that’s both beautiful and functional for each client’s individual lifestyle. We design custom cabinetry for all of the kitchen spaces we work on. One of our favorite parts of the design process is choosing the best kitchen cabinet paint colors!
Today on the blog, our senior designer is sharing six of the best kitchen cabinet paint colors we’re loving (and using!) right now. Whether you prefer a light and neutral kitchen design, or are going for a moodier moment with darker hues, we’ve got a paint color for you! So, keep scrolling to see our current color picks and for tips on how to choose the perfect paint color for your space.
The Best Kitchen Cabinet Paint Colors
Choosing Kitchen Cabinet Paint Colors
The first thing we consider when choosing kitchen cabinet paint colors is the space itself. What is the overall footprint of the kitchen? Does it receive a lot of natural light throughout the day? What are the other primary colors in the space? The answers to these questions will help you determine the right direction to go with your cabinetry color. We always try to juxtapose dark and light in a kitchen space. So, if you have a darker countertop material, a light or neutral paint color may create the most visual interest! On the other hand, if you have lighter floors and countertops, a dark paint color can be a great way to add contrast.
Our Kitchen Cabinet Paint Color Picks
If you’re loving that light neutral cabinetry we’ve been seeing everywhere right now, try Olympic Mountains or Pale Oak, both by Benjamin Moore. For more beige undertones, try the former, and for a more grey feel, opt for the latter! If you love white kitchen cabinetry (and who doesn’t!?), our current favorite white hue is Simply White by Benjamin Moore. It has pretty warm undertones that look beautiful in a space with lots of natural light! For those of you who want to add a contrast moment or just want a moodier kitchen design overall, try Railings by Farrow & Ball or Dark Pewter by Dunn Edwards. Both are so cool and of-the-moment, but are timeless and will certainly stand the test of time. Last but not least, for a darker neutral moment, Hardwick White by Farrow & Ball is oh so pretty. It’s got the perfect neutral undertones and would look great with both dark and light countertop materials.
