Welcome back to part two of our #mgdxranchosantafe home reveal! In part one of the reveal, we introduced you to this stunning property, showcasing its unique architectural features and beautiful interiors. Today, we’re excited to show you more of this gorgeous home, revealing the kitchen, breakfast nook, family room, main bedroom, main bathroom, and exterior. Keep reading to see even more of the design touches that make this residence truly one-of-a-kind.
Kitchen
The kitchen is the heart of the home for nearly all of our projects, and this home is no exception. We were fortunate to work with an existing kitchen that had been recently remodeled. This allowed us to further enhance the design of the space with lots of thoughtful details. The cabinets were painted in a deep green hue and juxtaposed with knurled brass hardware. We sought to soften the surrounding materials with a pair of rattan pendants, oak counter stools, and a pair of custom runners. Our goal throughout the kitchen was to add as much texture and character as possible, to reflect our client’s style.
Prior to the remodel, the original window above the sink was a fixed window that looked out onto the backyard. Our client loved the idea of adding a bi-fold window and outdoor countertop which proved to be a beautiful extension of the kitchen space, also allowing the indoor and outdoor spaces to feel in unison with one another. Flanking the bi-fold window, we added custom shelving that suspends from the ceiling and serves as the perfect place to showcase dishwares and glassware. Just beyond the kitchen is an everyday pantry, a wine room, and a butlers’ pantry, which truly make this a dream kitchen for our clients.
Breakfast Nook
Right off the kitchen is the breakfast nook. Surrounded by lots of natural light and two door systems that lead to the backyard, this is where the family enjoys most meals together. It’s one of our favorite spots in the home!
Family Room
The family room, like many, is the hub for many family movie and game nights. With an oversized sectional upholstered in a performance fabric, cloud-like accent chairs, and an oversized custom leather ottoman, this room is cozy and inviting. Off the family room is the covered outdoor lounge loggia which you’ll also see in today’s reveal!
Primary Bedroom
Leading into the primary suite is a hallway vignette that is a perfect snapshot of the essence of the home. It features a custom bronze pendant and artfully designed console.
The primary bedroom suite is one of our favorites, with an effortless color palette and a natural moodiness to the space. While it features a private patio area and lets in lots of natural light, we really love how the space feels private and serene. An iron canopy bed is flanked with ebony stained oak nightstands, a textured botanical wall covering, and statement bedside sconces. The moss colored boucle bench and patterned wool rug are beautiful yet subtle pieces that help anchor the space and add their own character, along with the original wood ceiling details.
Primary Bathroom
As an extension of the primary bedroom, the primary bathroom is equally serene in design with classic materials and design details. The freestanding tub is used for nightly bath time with all the kids as well as the spa-like enclosed steam shower. The french doors lead to a freestanding sauna that our clients added in true spa fashion.
Exterior
The rear exterior of the home is perhaps the most used year-round and is what our clients fell in love with most when they first saw the property. When they first purchased the home it was obvious the previous owners had invested a lot of time and care into the home. It then gave us the perfect canvas to further enhance many of the architectural details throughout, both on the interior and exterior. A pair of olive trees in custom beautifully crafted planters flank a pair of french doors off the dining room with steps that lead to the pool. Adjacent to the olive trees is the kitchen bi-fold bar top and casual seating area.
Just beyond, is the covered outdoor loggia that features an original fireplace, stone, and traditional iron work. Our clients spend many nights here with friends and family. The overall landscaping and pool area became a fun passion project for our client, working to integrate many of the existing hardscape and softscape elements with new landscape and added conversation areas to hang out.
Four chaises bookend one side of the pool in addition to a newly added sunken firepit seating area. Another special element of this sprawling one-story home is the freestanding casita that overlooks the pool and firepit area and serves as a retreat for guests and out of town family members.
