We’re so excited to begin the reveal of our Windward project on the blog today! We were lucky enough to be involved in this project with Brandon Architects from day 1, and we had so much fun dreaming up all of the design details throughout this home. Today, we’re taking you through the entry, mudroom, stairwell, cute office, and the main bedroom and bathroom suite. Keep scrolling and we hope you enjoy part 1 of our #mgdxwindward reveal.
Entry
To kick off our tour, let’s talk about this bright white entryway! A classic Dutch door welcomes you into the home, and crisp white board and batten siding reflects all of the natural light pouring in the front windows.
We opted to make a decor statement on either side of the entryway. On one side, we brought in an espresso stained wood and leather console and a custom commissioned art piece by Pierce Meehan. On the opposite side, we added a custom upholstered bench seat with pillows and a mirror overhead, and tied it all together with matching sconces.
Mudroom
Off the main entry is the functional mudroom of our dreams! Custom cabinets and laser-cut front lockers in the prettiest shade of grey/green are complemented by dark limestone herringbone floors and black countertops. For a large family home like this one, we love incorporating a mudroom space with lots of storage to house all of the littles’ belongings, from soccer cleats to backpacks and hats.
Stairs
Oh this stairwell… We could write an entire book on how much we love this space! White oak stairs and a custom black iron railing pop against the all white walls and detailed millwork. Underneath the stairs is a gorgeous glass-enclosed wine cellar for our clients to house all of their favorite bottles. Last but not least, an oversized black chandelier makes a statement and ties in all of the black details!
Office
We wanted to make a happy statement in our client’s office space, so we opted for a bright printed wallpaper and lots of woven rattan and brass details. Our client originally hails from Palm Springs, so this sherbet-hued palm wallpaper is a fitting nod to her hometown roots. This cute office is completed with a built-in wrapping station to make all of our gifting dreams come true!
Main Bedroom
For the main bedroom space, we wanted to incorporate modern black elements into a cool neutral palette in a way that felt fresh and unique. Our clients wanted a serene space that would truly feel like a retreat. A modern black stained oak canopy bed and oversized charcoal rattan pendant steal the show in this dreamy suite, and we can just imagine reading books and drinking our morning coffee on that custom upholstered sofa! A tiled fireplace and built-in shelving complete this space, and we’d have a tough time ever leaving!
Main Bathroom Suite
We’re not one to pick favorites, but this bathroom is making that difficult! This space was designed to be a well-lit bathroom highlighting lots of natural light for an open and airy feel. Geometric tiled floors and an oversized marble steam shower make a bold statement, while white cabinetry and a simple freestanding bathtub help balance the space. We brought in some warmth to the room with a tiered rattan pendant, woven shades, and sourced vintage pieces.
If you’re as obsessed with this modern family home as we are, we have great news! This is part one of a four part reveal. Stay tuned in the upcoming weeks to see the rest of the space. We’ll also be sharing all of the details you need to recreate these designs in your own home! In the meantime, check out some of our past projects in our portfolio.
