Part of our interior design process with clients includes creating custom mood boards for each room in their home renovation or new build project. Today on the blog, we’re sharing a peek inside how we create these interior design mood boards starting with the heart of the home – The kitchen! We designed two unique kitchen spaces complete with furniture, finishes, and accessories to tie the looks together. See both of our kitchen mood boards below, then shop your favorites from each design!
Dark Kitchen Mood Board
First up is a dark kitchen design with black appliances, brass details, and mid-tone wood furniture. We love a dramatic design moment, and this space would certainly make a statement in any home! For this design, we pulled the prettiest olive green/gray and perfect black paint hues that we’d use on the cabinetry and walls. The colors are Copley Gray and Onyx by Benjamin Moore, respectively. We also love bringing in textiles to any design. For this space, we loved the subtle pattern on this Kerry Joyce Textiles swatch. How pretty would it be on custom pillows or a bench seat in this space? Lastly, it’s well-known that we love a La Cornue oven (seen here in our #MGDxMarigold kitchen), and this black and brass beauty was the perfect piece for this design.

Neutral Kitchen Mood Board
Our neutral kitchen design is perfect for those of you that love a white kitchen. Who doesn’t love a bright and airy space to cook and entertain in!? In this kitchen design, we opted for mixed metals, including brushed brass hardware from Waterworks and a polished nickel pull-down faucet by Rohl. We also wanted to incorporate lots of soft textiles including upholstered counter stools and the prettiest fabric swatch from C&C Milano Fabrics. A marble slab and white zellige tile backsplash from Zia Tile add dimension to the white and cream color palette. The paint colors we’d opt for in this space are Tapestry Beige and Simply White by Benjamin Moore. They add depth to the palette in such a pretty way! A white and brass statement oven and the coolest brass pendant lights complete the look.
