The day is finally here! We couldn’t be any more excited to share our beloved #mgdxmarigold project, which has been in the works for a while now. Our client is a So-Cal native who searched far and wide to find the perfect fixer upper project, landing on this three-story gem in the seaside village of Corona del Mar. It’s one of our favorite locations due to its walkability, access to beach and restaurants, and community feel.
Every nook and cranny of this house was touched by a thoughtful hand, making it the most special place to call home. The before and after photos of this project show all of the attention that went into giving every inch of the house a facelift, transforming it to have an endless amount of charm and curb appeal. We hope you love the home as much as we do, so come inside and take a tour with us! xo
Kitchen
To start things off, let’s talk about this kitchen. When we first walked into the house, the kitchen caught our eye immediately. The open layout, windows, and charming island were all elements that we knew we would want to center the design around. Because the homeowner is a lover of all things ladylike, we wanted the space to feel as bright and inviting as possible. We focused on a neutral base of materials and then incorporated found objects and feminine touches to tie it all together. It’s filled with brass and antique pendants, Calacatta marble countertops, a vintage runner, the most beautiful tile, and of course, a showstopping La Cornue Range. Le swoon!
Dining Room
Next, let’s head to the dining room. Adjacent to the kitchen, this space had so much potential to be opened up and expanded. We removed a few walls, replaced the fireplace with a nook and violá… it all felt new.
We’re not one to play favorites, but this room is the cutest, most welcoming space…ever. In homage to our client’s love of pink, we incorporated feminine details all over, notably in the shelves and artwork. We custom commissioned a piece from Nashville-based artist Jenn Thatcher, working with her closely to highlight subtle pops of pink. These strokes of color, soft materials, and earthy tones make it a space to obsess over.
Located off the side of the dining room is an interior courtyard that is the ideal spot for a morning cup of coffee in the California sun.
Laundry
Finally, let’s go to the laundry room. We’re big believers that every room should be a space that invites in joy, and this room is no exception. No detail was left unturned here, and that’s why it’s one of our favorite parts of the house. Some highlights include hand-laid herringbone flooring, hand-painted terracotta tile, custom cabinetry, and a quartz countertop.
If you’re as obsessed with this house as we are, great news: this is part one of a four part reveal. Stay tuned in the upcoming weeks to see the rest of the space!
