It’s a bittersweet day, because today we’re sharing the final reveal of our Nellie Gail project launch! If you missed parts one through four, head to the projects section of our blog to catch up. Now, in today’s post, we’re sharing the main bedroom design, its ensuite bathroom, and the cutest upstairs laundry-meets-craft room. Keep scrolling to see everything that’s in store!
Main Bedroom
The goal for this dreamy main bedroom was to make it feel like a hotel retreat. The main bedroom design sits within a serene and soft neutral color palette, with a subtle mauve as an accent hue.
Our favorite thing about this space is the mix of more traditional elements with unexpected modern touches. At the end of the bed, we added a custom settee in the prettiest dainty floral print. A modern wallpaper creates an accent wall, and we carried in the mauve hues from the print into the pillows and settee.
In addition to playing with pattern, we wanted to bring in a variety of textures to add even more visual interest to the space. Cane nightstands, a burl wood dresser, and a rustic light fixture all come together beautifully to create a warm and welcoming space.
Main Bathroom
If you know us, you know we love two things: Neutral color palettes and beautiful cabinetry. This main bathroom ties our two loves together and we’d have a tough time ever leaving this space! Our client wanted lots of detailing in here within the neutral palette.
We brought in marble mosaic flooring, and used marble tiles to create the shower walls and the wall behind the freestanding tub. All of the cabinetry is stain grade white oak with lots of functionality and pretty details throughout. We added a makeup area with space to tuck a stool underneath. Then, we created a built-in hutch with antiqued mirrored glass for more hidden storage.
Mixed metals are one of our favorite ways to add depth to a bathroom design. Therefore, we opted for brass cabinetry hardware and lighting, mixed with polished nickel plumbing fixtures. Special details like patterned window coverings and a vintage rug complete the space.
Laundry & Craft Room
Last but definitely not least, let’s get into the laundry + craft room! Since all of the kids are upstairs, our client wanted a second space for laundry upstairs. In addition to laundry, we wanted to make this space multi-functional, so we combined our client’s office and craft room into the same space. By utilizing as much storage space as possible, the result is a room that serves every purpose beautifully.
On the back wall is a built-in desk area for work, complete with open shelving for displaying all of our client’s favorite trinkets. A wrapping zone with an island that projects into the space is perfect for putting together gifts for all of the kids’ birthday parties throughout the year. Lastly, we added a custom gingham pinboard and a cute kids desk area. It’s the perfect spot for the littles to do homework and color while the adults fold and work. Double stacked washer and dryer units, plus a custom pull-down drying rack system, ensure that lots of laundry can get done in here, too.
Stylistically, we opted for the same two-tone terracotta stone material on the floors to tie in the pantry and mudroom flooring downstairs. Our client’s favorite color is purple, which was a fun challenge for our team! So, after searching for the perfect hue, we landed on this fun light lavender shade with grey undertones. The same purple tones are tied in with the Roman shades and gingham pinboard.
