And just like that, we’re onto the third and final home reveal of our #mgdxranchosantafe project! If you missed parts one and two of this beautiful home reveal, be sure to head there to see all the spaces in this sprawling home. In today’s post, we’ll be taking a closer look at all the kids’ spaces, filled with the most thoughtful elements. From the lively playroom to playful bedrooms (and the cutest girl’s bathroom!), we spared no detail to create fun and functional spaces for the little ones. So, let’s dive in and explore these amazing spaces!
Playroom
Kicking off the kids’ spaces throughout the home is the playroom. Based on the floor plan design, the home allowed for all three of the kids to have their own wing of the home, with a playroom anchored as the common hangout zone. A wrap around custom built-in was designed to house books, toys, games, and stuffed animals. A special reading nook was added for one very avid reader in the family.
We love that the space feels perfectly suited for growing little people with a pint-sized play table for arts and crafts and playing make-believe, paired with a slipcovered sofa and oversized leather ottomans for downtime and watching movies. As the kids grow older, a rolling ladder was designed to be added to the long built-in wall as their library collection continues to expand over the years.
Nursery
The youngest in the family is a little boy. When we first started the project, he was just under one years old. At the time of our photoshoot, he was nearly 3 years old! The nursery-turned big boy room is quite spacious and was a fun one for us to design, incorporating more a bit more than a traditional crib and glider chair. At our client’s request, we were fortunate to get to include an oversized rug for lots of open play space, a kids table and chairs, and an oversized dresser with playful safari animal art above.
Boy’s Bedroom
Our clients love spending time outdoors and spend many of their vacations in Wyoming. The design of the older brother’s room is a nod to the great outdoors. Part of his artwork is a wink to the California beach lifestyle where they spend lots of days surfing and in the ocean with the custom hand-made flags by Slightly Choppy.
We added a custom oak built-in reading nook for all of his books and toys. This might be our favorite corner of the room with an iconic Ben Steele etch-a-sketch that our clients found, which hangs above the nook, along with souvenirs and outdoor gear from the national parks.
Girl’s Bedroom
Onto the girl’s bedroom! Their daughter is an animal lover, so naturally her room design was an equal mix of all things pink paired with friendly felines. Even her walls are clad in a repeating leopard print. Her room has a lot of fun moments throughout, including a custom bunk bed, a canopy swing, and the perfect surface for all of her legos.
Girl’s Bathroom
The daughter’s bathroom is the perfect extension of her bedroom. It’s a nod to our muted pink color palette paired with custom oak towers that flank a basin utility sink. We love that her bathroom has a mix of feminine and industrial details.
Laundry & Mudroom
As an active family of five, the laundry and mudrooms are high utility spaces that get a lot of use on a daily basis. Despite their functionality, we love that our client wanted both spaces to feel fun and playful. We incorporated patterned wallpaper in the laundry room and a pair of African framed textile art. The built-ins in the mudroom also feature a fun patterned wallpaper and graphic pillows to set a carefree backdrop for all of the family’s everyday wares.
